Section 1263 of the ‘Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2023’, otherwise known as the Medication Access and Training Expansion (MATE) Act, requires new or renewing Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) registrants, as of June 27, 2023, to have completed a total of at least 8 hours of training on opioid or other substance use disorders, as well as the safe pharmacological management of dental pain. The course will concentrate on prevention, recognition, and care of people with substance use disorders, including those with concurrent pain and/or psychiatric and medical co-morbidities. This course will be 8 hours in length divided into 4 two-hour sessions taught through a virtual platform including the following disciplines: Substance Use Disorders, Mental Health Disorders and Substance Abuse, Effective Treatment Planning, and Pain Management and Substance Misuse. This course was reviewed on 1/1/2024 and expires on 12/31/2025.
