Dental Radiography for Dental Assistants

  • 30 Steps

About

This continuing education course prepares dental assistants to produce safe, diagnostic dental radiographs using traditional film, digital sensors, and phosphor plates. It covers radiation fundamentals, intraoral periapical and bitewing techniques, image quality, positioning, common errors and retakes, and infection prevention procedures. Learners will also gain an overview of panoramic, cephalometric, and cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) imaging. By the end of the course, participants will be able to follow a consistent radiography workflow, recognize non-diagnostic images, and correct common placement and exposure errors. Upon completion of the didactic portion, participants will need to contact us to make an appointment to complete your clinical portion before a certificate can be provided and full certification is complete. Failure to do the hands on portion will prohibit you from taking radiographs in NC. If you have been certified in another state, contact us and we can navigate you on how to transfer that certification to NC. Our course has been approved by the NCSBDE and meets the NC radiography requirements for assistants. Completion of all components including the clinical portion confers 21 hours of credit. 14 CE hours of clinical time is required.
